Firethorn takes pride in our commitment to golf at the local, state and national level. Firethorn is the home of the University of Nebraska men’s and women’s golf teams. Firethorn hosted both the men’s and women’s Nebraska State Amateur Championships, along with the men’s State Match Play Championship. On a national level, Firethorn was the venue for the NCAA Division III Men’s National Championship, the Women’s Western Amateur Championship, and qualifying rounds for the U.S. Open, U.S. Senior Open, the USGA Mid-Am, and U.S. Women’s Open. Finally, the 1996 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship and the 2002 Women’s Trans-National Championship were played at Firethorn.

Our annual events for members include , “The Quest”, our member-guest tournament, a Pro-Member tournament featuring the top professionals in Nebraska, and our Team Championship (The Member-Member), the most popular event of the year. Both men and women compete in team matches throughout the year against other private clubs, and “Championship Weekend” determines our Men’s, Women’s and Junior Club Champions.

As you can tell from the long list of women’s championship events, Firethorn supports women’s golf. Firethorn was on the leading edge by having one of the first female head professionals in the country. Firethorn is also committed to junior golf. Our junior programs offer a learning experience for all age groups, from the “Little Linkers” all the way through high school. With 27 holes, course access for our junior players is rarely a problem.
